Objectives and Scope of the Assignment

The primary objective of this assignment is to develop a pipeline of investible renewable energy minigrid assets. Thus, this assignment is expected to: 1) Develop market intelligence for Tier 1 and Tier 2 agricultural value chains 2) Assess the risks of current and future climate changes and climate variabilities on agricultural value chains 3) Develop feasibility studies for developing a bankable pipeline of investible solar PV minigrids assets (using primary data collected from potential sites) 4) Produce reports for use by stakeholders such as the REA, minigrid developers, financial institutions etc., 5) Provide capacity building for stakeholdes on results of the feasibility studies 6) Support the project’s media data collection and documentary development

Consultant Competencies

The required qualifications and experience of the consultant are as follows: • An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Engineering, Economics, Agricultural / Environmental sciences or related fields • At least 10 years of relevant work experience across market & business intelligence covering the electricity, rural agriculture, and related sectors • Experience working with the UN, and UNDP in particular, international organizations, and similar agencies would be an advantage • Previous experience in conducting similar assignments • Clear understanding of the market dynamics in Nigeria, especially value addition in the agricultural value chains
