Objectives and Scope of the Assignment

The primary objective of this assignment is to support the International Minigrid Market Development Expert. Thus, this assignment is expected to: 1) Support the International Minigrid Market Development Expert in the development of feasibility studies (technical designs for minigrid power generation and distribution) and business plans for the pilot projects 2) Provide technical support to the developers during project development and operations 3) Support the Industry Specialist in: i) the identification and prioritization of electrical equipment use in the agriculture-energy nexus; ii) development of a roadmap for promoting local assembly and manufacturing of prioritized equipment; iii) the identification of policy instruments for supporting the roadmap, and iv) contribute to the capacity building of project stakeholders on the means for actualising any potential for local assembly and manufacturing equipment

Consultant Competencies

The required qualifications and experience of the consultant are as follows: · An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field · At least 10 years of relevant work experience across mini grid project technical design and operations, preferably coupled with agricultural productive use · Experience in working with the UN, and UNDP in particular, international organizations, and similar agencies would be an advantage · Clear understanding of - and skills for integrating agriculture productive uses with renewable energy minigrids · Previous experience in conducting similar assignments.
